She didn’t want that. She had a great life, a wonderful youth ahead of her; why should she end up in such a desolate place with this high school boy and then die in vain?
Standing up abruptly, Xu Xian’en dropped her dried biscuits all over the ground.
“Shh! Are you crazy? Do you want that big idiot to find us? Sit down quickly!” Zou Ben warned her in a low, urgent voice.
“I’m not going to sit here waiting to die! I’m going to find something to replace those tubes. There are so many trees here; how do you know we can’t find something similar to substitute?” Xu Xian’en frowned at him.
“Alright, alright, we’ll go look, but can you please sit down first?” Zou Ben was on the verge of pulling her pants. “My stomach is already flattened with hunger; where do we get the energy to look for things?”
“Please, can we eat our fill first and then look? It’s just a few minutes, right?”
“Hmm…” Xu Xian’en reluctantly sat down, picking up the biscuits from the ground and stuffing them into her mouth.
The two were silent for a while before Xu Xian’en couldn’t help but speak, “Hey, high school boy, do you think we might not even see the sunrise tomorrow?”
“What do you mean?” He was busy unwrapping the biscuit packaging. He had been starving all day, first being chased by a wild boar, then walking such a long distance, and now this energetic girl was dragging him around. If he didn’t know where tomorrow’s food would come from, he really wanted to eat all the biscuits in the pack.
“Because we’ll be hungry, and the sun will be hungry too,” Xu Xian’en said, nonchalantly tossing a biscuit into her mouth.
Hearing this, Zou Ben slowly stood up.
“Hey, why are you standing up?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I think… I think we should go look for those things first, and eat after we find them…” Zou Ben said, with a hint of pain in his voice.
“If that big idiot finds us first, we’ll be dead before we can even think about filling our stomachs!” He thought silently, then patted his belly to comfort it amidst its mad cries of hunger.
