“Then let’s not run anymore. Let’s just sit here, eat something to fill our stomachs, and then wait for that big idiot to find us and gobble us up in one bite!” He shrugged, “It’s a pity you don’t like me, otherwise, we could be a pair of doomed lovers.”
His words made her face flush red.
Judging from the literal meaning, he meant… he meant… it’s a pity she didn’t like him, and if she did, they would be doomed lovers… which means… he likes her?
He likes her?
Seeing her reddened cheeks, Xia Ben Ma knew what was going through her mind.
“Hey! That’s not what I meant… don’t overthink it.” He hurriedly waved his hands to clarify.
It was his fault, bothering her with such nonsense at a time like this. Xia Ben Ma thought to himself, but what came out of his mouth didn’t convey that feeling to Xu Xian En.
So, he didn’t actually like her, it was all her wishful thinking… Otherwise, why would he be so eager to clarify? Xu Xian En pouted slightly, forcing a smile.
“Alright, let’s eat something first. I’ll let you have some biscuits, and if we’re still alive tomorrow morning, we’ll find some water and figure out how to cook some instant noodles.” Xia Ben Ma awkwardly set up the first day’s “dinner.”
Xu Xian En, on the other hand, sat silently beside him, dazedly accepting the biscuits he handed her.
“Shrimp flavor? Spicy? Original? Or chocolate?” Xia Ben Ma dug out one packet after another of biscuits from his bag.
“Wow, you high school boy, you’ve packed too much!” She furrowed her brows and stuffed several packets back into the bag.
“Because I don’t know what you want to eat.” He shrugged; women were indeed hard to please.
“I want to eat roasted chicken.” Xu Xian En looked at him with a playful smile.
“Well… staring at me won’t help. In this godforsaken place, it would be better if that big idiot was wandering around. Even if he wasn’t, where would I find a chicken to roast? And in these strange times, we don’t even know if we’re in danger or not.”
“Yes.” She opened the packaging, hugged the spicy biscuits, and started eating with gusto.
