Super Employee

The way you present these achievements shouldn’t be too direct to avoid appearing boastful. You can express them through reports and briefings or discuss your work in daily suggestions and communications, showing your boss that you’re thoughtful and eager to learn, which also aids in their management. However, maintain objectivity in your reporting; don’t exaggerate your achievements or diminish others’, and certainly don’t claim others’ work as your own. Bosses have their own criteria, and they might not see your achievements as significant as you do, and exaggerating can give the impression of being overly talkative. Some people have a fear of their bosses, believing that bosses are of a higher status and thus hard to communicate with. In reality, bosses are just ordinary people. Although some may have an air of authority, they will not refuse to interact with others. However, since bosses deal with many employees, if you do not have any particular strengths or outstanding work achievements, bosses typically won’t initiate communication with you, so you should take the initiative. During this process, you can also learn more about your boss. At work, one should be diligent and meticulous. If a task is beyond your capability or if you know your attention to detail is lacking, which could lead to errors, you must be extremely cautious. If you really can’t handle it, you can seek help or directly ask colleagues for assistance to minimize mistakes. Because even if you’ve worked hard and excelled in the past, a single small mistake could undo it all. A minor error can also lead to significant losses for the company, so caution is paramount.

Of course, it’s impossible to completely avoid errors. No matter how careful someone is, mistakes can still happen. The key is how to handle them once they occur. Hiding or not reporting the mistake is not wise. In a relatively small company, colleagues generally have some knowledge of each other’s work, and a mistake in your part of the process might directly affect others, making it impossible to cover up completely. Moreover, concealment could lead to even greater losses.
