Veiled Heartbreak

Lin Bei felt a slight relief, answering with a cold laugh, “Jiang Nuan, what nonsense do you have to say now?”

On the other end, however, was a stranger’s deep voice, “Hello, this is the Locity Tianxing Street Police Station. Yesterday, we recovered a body from the water. According to the phone data, her last call was to you…”

Chapter 11

Tianxing Street, Police Station Morgue.

Lin Bei stood before a corpse covered with a white sheet.

The policeman beside her spoke solemnly, “Preliminary judgment suggests she died by suicide two days ago…”

Two days ago…

Lin Bei stood there motionless, “Can I uncover it?”

“Yes.”

“Thank you.” Lin Bei said, but made no move, just standing there for a long time.

The policeman noticed her trembling hands and silently stepped back.

Lin Bei looked at the person lying still, feeling like a wooden puppet herself.

The words from the letter suddenly flashed through her mind.

After a long while, she shakily pulled back the sheet.

Jiang Nuan’s pale face instantly filled her vision!

Lin Bei stepped back, seeing the ‘LB’ tattooed on the arm.

She instinctively reached out, the cold touch causing her to collapse instantly!

Tears surged forth!

She fell to the ground, clutching the sheet, sobbing uncontrollably, the ‘JW’ tattoo on her left arm faintly visible.

“How could you do this? Even in death, you’re still scheming against me! How could you be so shameless!”

“How could you do this… how could you…”

The empty morgue echoed with her heart-wrenching sobs, and the officer outside sighed deeply.

In the CEO’s office, lounge.

Fu Yusen suddenly opened his eyes, his heart pounding.

These days, he had been having a nightmare, waking up with only the memory of a white figure falling into darkness, him chasing but losing sight…

Fu Yusen clutched his aching chest, taking a deep breath. It was just a dream, yet he felt he had lost something very important.

He instinctively checked his phone; Jiang Nuan hadn’t contacted him for nearly a week.

No messages, no calls.

Fu Yusen stared at Jiang Nuan’s name on his phone screen, scoffing.

This trick of hers wasn’t new.

Did she think this would make him go looking for her? Too bad, he didn’t care about her at all.

In the Fu Group conference room.
