Dealing with Tigers

Today, while helping Qiyufeng fetch his suit jacket, I felt something hard, and when I took it out, it was a small velvet box. Uh, in this situation, would I not look? But, I closed it halfway through opening it – it was a ring. I handed the suit to Qiyufeng, he took it. Just before closing the door, he suddenly came back and instructed me to dress up nicely tonight for him to take me out for dinner. My heart skipped a beat, almost forgot, today is the last day. Forcing myself to pack my luggage, actually, I was reluctant, more uneasy, because of that ring, my intuition told me it was meant for me. If he really wants to keep me, then with marriage? Is it possible? Him? If it were before, I would definitely leave, leave decisively. But now, I must admit I wavered, at a loss, watching the noon pass by. Can’t continue like this, I got up, changed clothes, rushed downstairs, hailed a cab, and told the driver to take me to the nearest hospital.

When I returned to the apartment, it was quite late, I changed into another outfit and obediently waited for Qiyufeng. Tonight, he had reserved an entire restaurant, we dined to the beautiful music, which was within my expectations. Only he was unusually quiet, making me start to fear. After the meal, we still sat facing each other, he sipped his wine, his eyes dissecting me, his unabashed gaze piercing through me, making me inexplicably guilty. What’s wrong with him, so different from this morning? How much longer must I sit here… “Nothing to say to me?” “Uh… drinking too much isn’t good.” “And?” “Uh… when can we go back?” He put down his wine glass, tilted his head to look at me, “Xiaoxia, you wouldn’t not know what we’ll do when we go back, would you? Are you that eager to go to bed?” What! What did you say!! This full-of-lust guy! Before I could start cursing, he leaned in, and I quickly stopped him, “What are you doing! This is a restaurant, don’t you know the word ‘shame’? At your age, still pulling this kind of stunt, really, no respect for the elderly!” I pushed him away, straightened my clothes, ready to continue nagging, but he grabbed me. “You care about the environment now? Then let’s go back.” What! What do you mean “now”!! Tonight, his deliberate gentleness alerted me, he was setting a trap to tempt me into it. And the facts were on my side. He lifted me to the heavens only to crash me down. Not giving me satisfaction, he propped himself over me, his fingers caressing my lips, softly asking, “Did you go to meet the new owner today?” “What are you talking about?” “I mean, you went to see a new client today, Qijianyang, am I wrong?” His grip tightened, I started to fear. “I didn’t, don’t make things up.” “Making things up? Then what were you doing at his hospital for most of the day!” That hospital is his? But… “Did you have me followed?” He neither confirmed nor denied, and indeed, even if I used my toes to think, I knew the answer. “Don’t tell me you went for a checkup, you’re perfectly fine!” “What I do there is none of your business, I didn’t go to see him.” “So quickly it’s none of my business?” He sneered, “But don’t forget, tonight you’re still mine! I have the right to manage!” “Tell me obediently, what did you do when you went to see him?” He almost violently pinched my chin, forcing me to look up at him. “Why aren’t you talking? Did you do it with him?” Ridiculous. Seeing I didn’t respond, he probably thought I admitted it, and slapped me hard, “Bitch!” I was dumbfounded, touching my face, you hit me? But hitting is fine, as long as you don’t ask me what I was doing! “Yes, I went to sell myself to him, so what?” He was so angry he looked like he wanted to kill me, rummaged through the clothes on the floor for his wallet, throwing out all the cards in frustration, each word like a stab, “Want money? Take it all, then get out!” Watching him get up, put on his robe, and go outside, I got up, collected the scattered cards from the bed, got dressed, quietly, so quietly that I could even hear the sound of a drop of blood. Does it hurt? I asked myself, why should it hurt? I felt nothing. Hate? I only hate myself for being so insignificant in his eyes. But since it’s my choice, I won’t say much, just continue on. I put the house deed into my luggage, dragged it out, Qiyufeng didn’t even glance at me, sitting on the sofa, smoking.

I knew I shouldn’t ask, but I couldn’t help it. “That ring…” “You saw it?” He paused, looking somewhat uneasy. “Yeah.” “What do you want to know?” He finally looked at me, his face full of mockery. “Nothing.” It was my fault for asking! Dragging my luggage towards the door, I felt a sense of inferiority creeping in… “Don’t flatter yourself, you’re not worthy.” “Enough! Don’t flatter yourself, I didn’t ask you anything!” Holding back tears, I yelled back, feeling a suffocation as if my heart was being crushed. In a fit of release, I threw all the cards back at him. Qi Yufeng watched me, puzzled, until I had my shoes on. “I don’t understand, what benefit could he possibly give you?” Ha, benefits, huh? “Let me tell you, he offered me more than you did! Plus, he doesn’t throw cards at me; he uses cash, thick wads of it, which I find quite enjoyable!” His face tensed as if about to twitch, which thrilled me! Finally, he leaned back in his chair, a cold smile on his lips, “Liu Yixia, you’re despicable.” “Yes, but there are always noble fools who take the bait.” I smiled, politely closing the door behind me. From now on, everything inside was none of my concern. Goodbye, fool.
