Myth of Madness

“Oh, may I ask this lady, are you implying that little girls are just trash?” Xu Xianqi set down her chopsticks, a cunning smile playing on her lips as she walked over to the boy in small steps.

“Exactly.” Xu Xian’en stated bluntly, with no hint of apology.

“Ah, that’s another thing I’ve noticed, you two like to bicker a lot.” Now that the rude girl had shifted her attention, he could focus on enjoying his meal.

“Change of attitude.” Xu Xianqi delicately covered her small mouth with her sleeve, then turned to the boy. “You brought this trouble upon yourself, so you have to deal with it yourself.”

Xu Xian’en raised his eyebrows, glaring at his sister who was eating at the table with a pout.

“Hey, if you plan to stay, you’ll need to chip in for food expenses, and you’ll also have to sleep on the floor!” Xu Xian’en huffed, then sat back down at the table with a huff.

“Paying for food isn’t a problem, but sleeping on the floor… I’m not doing that.” The boy quickly rejected the idea.

Looking at this simple little house, with rooms on either side for the two sisters, the middle space divided by the kitchen and bathroom, leaving just a tiny area, cleverly positioned right opposite the main door.

Now in September, it’s still bearable, but soon winter will arrive, and the cold north wind will sweep through… In a few days, he might become as stiff as an icicle.

“Why? Do you expect me to share my bed with you?” Xu Xian’en widened his eyes, then shook his head vigorously, “No way, no way…”

“Why?” He tilted his head in confusion.

“Because unmarried men and women shouldn’t share a room, let alone a bed!” she exclaimed.

“Oh, I see you know this rule too.” Xu Xianqi added fuel to the fire, her mind still remembering how earlier under her mother’s intimidation, she was forced to share a room alone with a man.

“So, I’ll sleep on the bed, and you can sleep on the floor, how’s that?” The boy tilted his head at her, sipping his soup with chopsticks.

“I’m not okay with that—” she stood up abruptly, her voice elongated in frustration.
