Luo Ban smiled and ruffled her hair. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
Watching his departing figure, Xu Xiang’en cheerfully took out thick quilts to spread on the bed, a hint of a triumphant smile on her lips.
She knew his weakness now.
Chapter Three
The next morning, Xu Xiang’en happily and leisurely ate her porridge, gently picking up a piece of preserved egg and placing it in her mouth. She glanced at Luo Ban, who was washing dishes in the kitchen.
“Hey, high school boy, you need to work on your egg-cooking skills.” She lifted her bowl, sipping the porridge.
Luo Ban grumbled as he scrubbed the pot. This woman was strange; she woke him up at five in the morning, then dressed in some ancient outfit, and terrifyingly, it was white, with long hair left down, looking like something that would only appear in July, like some kind of ghost from folklore. After giving him quite the scare, she still managed to roll around on the bed, laughing like a child. So, this man, who had never cooked for others and could count his kitchen experiences on his fingers and toes, left only a bit of unfulfilled threat after his sisters finished laughing. Then he went out to practice martial arts, leaving himself alone with the messy bed and a sense of emptiness brewing in his heart, like the void after some physical play.
Chu Beng sighed lightly, wiping away a tear with his pinky finger, then continued silently scrubbing the pot.
Should he be grateful that their kitchen was modernized, at least sparing him the task of chopping wood to start a fire?
“Yeh?” came a soft, gentle voice from the other side—it was Xu Xianqi.
“Yeh? Why are you up so early today?” Xu Xianen stared at her sister in great surprise.
“I went to bed too early last night, so I woke up early today. That’s normal, isn’t it?”
She gave a slight, apologetic smile, “Ah, it smells good. You got up early to cook, didn’t you? Usually at this time, you’d still be in the kitchen cooking.”
“No, he cooked breakfast today.” She took a sip of her porridge, savoring the rare ease of a relaxed morning, feeling absolutely no guilt towards others.
