Myth of Madness

Upon hearing this, Xu Xianqi raised her eyebrows slightly, glanced at the man standing in the kitchen with a dishcloth, looking clueless, then whispered, covering her mouth, “He won’t poison us both, will he?”

“You didn’t mention it, and I forgot I could poison you,” Chu Beng said coldly, standing behind Xu Xianqi, startling both sisters.

“What are you doing sneaking up on us? Is the pot cleaned?” Xu Xianen asked with a cold laugh.

“It’s clean.” Chu Beng sat down, poured himself a bowl of porridge, and said, “Xianqi, sit, eating breakfast is healthy.”

Xu Xianen furrowed her brows, looking at him with some wariness. “No need for your invitation, this is her house, she knows to sit down and eat breakfast.”

This was another difference between the sisters; Xianen was more cautious, like surrounding herself with thorns to protect her loved ones, while her sister was different, naive and unaware of guarding against others.

Chu Beng thought to himself as he observed their movements.

“Hey, don’t treat us like monkeys!” Xu Xianen, sensing his gaze, glared at him somewhat displeasedly.

She hated being stared at, especially the feeling of being compared when she was with her sister.

“Heh heh…” he laughed, “I was just thinking, I should go home later to pick up some clothes. It’s fine for a day, but I can’t bear not showering for more than two days.”

“Alright, so go. Why report to us?” she said coldly, stuffing a small piece of pickled vegetable into her sister’s mouth.

“Ugh.” Xu Xianqi grimaced at the sudden saltiness.

“Still complaining? The porridge will get cold soon.” Xu Xianen was quite pleased with her mischievous act, laughing like a little hamster.

With a playful glance at her older sister, Xu Xianqi stepped lightly towards the kitchen.

“Hey… I don’t want to walk, can you give me a ride?” Chu Beng asked earnestly, using his most sincere tone.

“No way,” Xu Xian’en didn’t even consider it before directly rejecting him.

Was his sincere intention thrown to the ground and trampled on by her?

“But, it would take a long time to walk, and recently I’ve found out I might be a bit anemic; I’m afraid I might faint halfway through,” Feng Qing said, gently touching his forehead as if to emphasize his words.
