Myth of Madness

Xu Xian’en opened her eyes, giving him a dark, sulky look.

Xiao Bao somewhat regretted saying those words.

“I didn’t say I was eating vinegar.”

“You clearly are, seeing her flirting with me, and no one pays attention to you, so you’re jealous.” The divine cow, with a proud air, swaggered on, looking quite displeased. “Who’s flirting with whom, huh?” Xu Xuen objected loudly, her eyes rolling. “Even if I wanted to flirt, I’d pick someone more impressive, wouldn’t I?”

“Right, pick someone more impressive.” Now Zhiben understood; if she wasn’t referring to the bull, then it must be about him.

“Aye, you two humans just gang up to bully me, the bull. Humph! Zhiben, I’m thirsty.”

It autonomously walked towards the base of the tree, completely ignoring whether the person sitting on its back wanted to stop or not. But since everyone else had stopped, the two sitting on someone else’s “plate” had no choice but to reluctantly get off.

Slumping onto the grass, the bull brother lay there lazily. “Let’s rest for a bit, we’ll head out in ten minutes. Better remember what I look like, so you don’t get on the wrong bull.”

Xu Xuen and Zhiben stared at each other in bewilderment. How… it sounded just like what a bus driver would say to passengers during a long journey.

“Zhiben, I’m thirsty…” Xu Xuen was also parched, giving him a pitiful look.

“Okay.” He quickly handed her his water bottle.

“You ungrateful partner, I was the one who said I was thirsty first.” The bull brother grumbled on the ground, lowering his head in lament. “Oh, the world changes, and so do people’s hearts. To think one could be so heartless over a woman…”

“Humph…” Zhiben looked at him dismissively, “Women are more delicate, unless you want to be a mother cow? If you admit you’re a mother, I’ll treat you equally from now on.”

“I am a mother.” It replied without hesitation, even sticking out its tongue in a wide grin, showing off its large yellow teeth.

Now Zhiben realized that there are indeed beings, no, cows, who would abandon their “male” dignity over something as trivial as drinking water first.
