Chapter 15: The Dog-Slaying Arena
No words could describe the brutality of this massive brawl. Su Yao watched the slender hands with long nails dance over the keyboard, unable to imagine how terrifying they would be without those nails. “Aren’t you afraid of death?” This question reached Su Yao’s throat but was swallowed back; she feared her voice might distract him. On the screen, Changsheng Dian, cloaked in black with the hood covering his face, moved through the dense crowd, his cloak fluttering. No attack could touch him. Su Yao believed that even without the “Initial Tribulation of Transformation,” he could move freely. His health bar was still full, and with each swing of his scythe, he reaped a wave of screams. Countless friend groups, tycoons, and dignitaries who came to flatter Yanxia’s two countries had their bodies floating above the square, turning the once splendid marriage square into what Wang Shenmu called a “Dog-Slaying Arena.”
King of Jiulong Kingdom: Ah, it’s too horrific, I’ve been reduced to level 1, oh no, this account cost me twenty thousand, now I have to start over!
Military Minister of Huiji Kingdom: You spent twenty thousand? That’s nothing!
My shoes that increase movement speed by 300% were auctioned for seventy thousand on the black market, and now they’re gone! Damn it!
A Professional Account Thief: Why are you guys crying? My stuff… sigh, forget it, I shouldn’t have come to watch, I’m going to jump off a building, don’t stop me.
King of America: You think you’re hurt? Your stuff was stolen! I brought half a national treasury as gifts, and now both the gifts and I are shit!
King of Cat-Ear Lolita Kingdom: Who told you to name your country America? You’re asking for trouble, serves you right.
Headmaster of the Wolf-Riding Kingdom’s Magic School: Damn it! You all can go to hell! Who’s as miserable as me? I came with gifts to curry favor with Changsheng Dian! My roommate was watching porn, and the network was so slow I couldn’t even move, got killed back to level 1 before I could even finish a sentence! Who do I go to cry to?
Queen of the Bro Country: Shut up, all of you! Who’s as miserable as me? I secretly logged into my wife’s account to play, and now I’m back to level 1, ah, who pushed me to the front? You all just lost your accounts, but my chrysanthemum! You don’t know my wife would use my chrysanthemum as her target when she’s angry, I’m doomed, I’m dead.
The vast square had truly become a hell on earth, with people fleeing, crashing, or chatting leisurely, perhaps only those level 1 corpses floating around with no worries. The scythe swept through, killing swathes. For Qin Chuan, killing one or a hundred was no different. He remembered those who flattered the bride and groom and those who cursed Little Mary with Princess Liuli. As for the accidental injuries? Oh, sorry, who told you to join the spectacle?
Qin Chuan had turned off all the game effects and minimized the display settings. Who could handle nearly a hundred thousand players on a single map? The game company was probably in a frantic rush to open more servers to prevent players from attributing their frustration to server lag. “Done killing,” Qin Chuan said, his forehead hair drooping. His fingers gracefully slid over the keyboard, executing the last combo. He leaped onto the roof of the wedding hall, right where Santuchuan had stood moments ago. He looked down indifferently at the dense crowd of players and corpses below, seemingly having injured quite a few by mistake. Qin Chuan shook his head; humans always loved to gather where there was excitement.
In reality, night had fallen, but in the game, it was twilight, the most beautiful time of the day. Changsheng Dian, holding a scythe, cloaked in black, stood above the masses, under the sky painted in shades of blue and orange. It was a jarring yet beautiful scene, and not a single person dared to step onto the roof. Below, people were cursing.
Su Yao finally found the chance to ask him, “Qin, aren’t you afraid of retaliation for killing so many people? Many of those who pay to play have high social status in real life.”
“What’s there to fear?” Qin Chuan said dismissively. “They’re spending taxpayers’ money too. Plus, I have countless aliases; no one knows my real identity except you.”
“Why did you tell me then?”
“You tell me?” With a playful and teasing tone, Su Yao didn’t know how to respond. This tech-savvy shut-in always had a way of making her feel both intimately close and strangely distant. His words could instantly breach her heart’s defenses, yet he could also seem miles away in the next moment.
At that moment, something unexpected happened! At the entrance of the wedding square, a young man in green entered. He was level 200, a Summoner, with the straightforward nickname Wang Shenmu. His face was handsome, and in his hands, he held a jade-green flute that looked like it could drip water, clearly not an ordinary item.
Normally, famous equipment would be screenshot and posted on forums for discussion, but no one had ever seen this flute, just as no one had seen this person before. Who was Wang Shenmu? Curious players checked his character attributes, only to find his additional attributes were blank except for one line in the honor list:
-【Master of the Eastern Shennong Forest.】
Wang Shenmu paid no mind to the crowd. The elegant young man lowered his head and began to play his flute. As those strange yet beautiful notes floated out, the twilight sky was filled with creatures like tigers, dragons, phoenixes, turtles, foxes, mythical beasts, and more. Countless spirits, enormous beasts, and terrifying demons were summoned by him, instantly darkening the sky. Each of these creatures, if encountered outside, would require an elite team to challenge, yet here they were, all under his command.
“Damn! What the hell are these things!” The people on the ground were terrified. Even the top summoners in the server were so shocked they couldn’t speak, quickly disconnecting their internet in panic. They had practiced for months to summon just one of these creatures, which was already a formidable monster, but how could this guy summon so many without any restrictions on time or number?
Some curious players checked the attributes of the summoning flute, only to find it was like the Twilight of the Gods, with only two attributes:
- Can summon all creatures without limits on quantity, time, or cooldown.
- The holder is the Master of the Eastern Shennong.
The second divine artifact had just revealed itself.
“Damn! I thought Changsheng Dian was just a glitch, but I never imagined that divine artifacts really exist! I need to go back, level up my character, and organize our nation’s mercenary group to go treasure hunting!”
“Let’s go, hurry back, treasure hunting is more important!”
“Yeah, hurry up, the bank will close soon! I’m going to withdraw money now, contact the leveling studio!”
The crowd erupted again, including those who had been resentful just moments before. They all slipped away quickly. However, many hadn’t reacted in time; they couldn’t escape. Wang Shenmu’s flute sounded again with a different, eerie melody, and the beasts in the sky charged at the humans below. The scene was chaotic, with players being killed and injured left and right, some even being knocked back to level one repeatedly.
In this game, bosses had fearsome additional effects.
