Crazy Smartphone – Part Two

From the moment Wang Xiaoyun was threatened to Lin Feng’s lethal response, it all happened in the blink of an eye. Wang Xiaoyun, still unable to see due to the flash of light, heard the sickening sound of skulls being crushed. Suddenly, the sounds of combat ceased, and she called out in alarm, “Fengzi, Xiaoyun, are you alright?” Only to hear a thud as Lin Feng collapsed in front of her.

“Fengzi, how are you? Where are you?” Hearing her urgent call, Lin Feng struggled to his feet, murmuring, “I won’t die, I won’t die,” though his mind was in utter chaos. “Damn, killed four more monsters! Uh, this time they were elite monsters, which is really, uh, quite interesting!”

When he regained his senses and tried to check the identity of these attackers, he saw something unbelievable. The four corpses on the ground, like monsters killed in a game, turned into streams of black smoke and dissipated into the air. The system prompts in his mind were unnecessary; his experience points and character stats had accumulated a bit.

The Japanese longsword, the men in black, Lin Feng immediately recalled his encounter at the Lan family. When Wang Xiaoyun’s vision returned, the courtyard was void of the attackers, only Xu Xiaoman lay unconscious on the ground.

Lin Feng had never imagined he would one day become a divine healer. Xu Xiaoman’s injuries were severe, but with his previous experience in treating the old master and Lan Yu, Lin Feng found it quite easy to heal her. In no time, her wounds had closed, and if not for the conspicuous bloodstains on her clothes, no one would have guessed she had been on the brink of death.

Xu Xiaoman slowly awoke, looking slightly pale but otherwise unharmed. Her first action upon waking was to instinctively cover the wound on her abdomen, warning Lin Feng and Wang Xiaoyun to be cautious. But the strange sensation in her hand was unexpected, causing her to pause, then sit up abruptly, staring at her abdomen in disbelief for a long while before lifting her head with a stunned expression.

As she checked her wound, her shirt lifted, exposing a large expanse of smooth, white skin, which she seemed unaware of. Lin Feng, close by, couldn’t help but stare, either in amazement at the healing or captivated by the sight, his eyes unblinking.

Wang Xiaoyun was equally shocked, reaching out to touch it. Their strange behavior caught Xu Xiaoman’s attention, and her ears turned red in embarrassment. She quickly got up, pretending to be nonchalant, and scolded them, “Hey, you two lovebirds really have similar tastes! Had enough of looking?”

Their shock broken by her words, Wang Xiaoyun helped her up, and both looked at Lin Feng with expressions as if they were looking at a rare specimen, silently questioning him with their eyes. I know you’re all curious, but now is not the time to talk about this. I’ll explain in detail when I get the chance. First, tell me, why are these people chasing you? Lin Feng spoke softly, yet there was an underlying fierceness in his voice. His expression was furious, barely suppressing his inner rage. The two women exchanged shocked glances. Before Xu Xiaoman could respond, he continued, “If someone doesn’t provoke me, I won’t provoke them. But if anyone dares to come to my doorstep with ill intentions, I’ll make sure they regret it!”

The feeling of being unable to protect someone close to you, especially when you clearly have the ability but are hindered by various unknown factors, is incredibly frustrating and humiliating. Fortunately, he still possessed the skills to be a divine physician! However, as he listened to the whole story from Xu Xiaoman, his confusion only deepened. Lan Jianren’s enemies, by common sense, should be himself and Lan Yu, the beneficiaries of the estate transfer. If Lan Jianren wanted to eliminate the so-called dark forces reaching for their family, the primary targets should naturally be him, Lin Feng, and Lan Yu. How then did the target shift to Xu Xiaoman? Black-clad assailants, Japanese swords. These overly conspicuous traits, even if Lan Jianren was foolish, he wouldn’t be so arrogant, right? Moreover, Xu Xiaoman was a police officer; the consequences of killing a police officer would be far greater than dealing with someone like him. So, Lin Feng dismissed the idea that Lan Jianren was deliberately seeking revenge, thinking he couldn’t be so mad as to hold a grudge against Xu Xiaoman just because she had led a team to their home. His doubts remained unresolved.

He was certain that the four black-clad assassins who suddenly appeared were the same ones they encountered at the Lan residence. Thanks to Niu Niu’s unparalleled recording capabilities, he had holographic images of everyone who attacked him stored in his consciousness. Lin Feng had planned to try uploading these secret findings to a computer, as he had once done at Xiao Yun’s, then anonymously provide the data to the police to uncover the secrets behind the Lan family and assist in solving the case from when Xu Xiaoman’s team first appeared at the Lan residence. He believed he was once again entangled in some kind of den of thieves. Another unspoken reason was that he still harbored the thought of accumulating good karma. By doing good deeds for the police, he hoped to quickly amass enough karma. After all, the now incredibly powerful Niu Niu had clearly shown him the path to strive for – accumulating karma! Moreover, when treating Old Master Wang, it was evident that he had consumed some of his karma value to stabilize the old man’s deteriorating condition. Later, when Xu Xiaoman was injured, he used the same method again, consuming a considerable amount of his karma value. This demonstrated how crucial karma value was when employing Niu Niu’s miraculous powers.

Setting these matters aside, Xu Xiaoman was ambushed by these four black-clad individuals on her way back near Xiao Yun’s house. According to her judgment, these people had been lying in ambush, ready to act against someone in the house, but she accidentally detected their presence, prompting them to attack. In other words, the assassination target wasn’t specifically Xu Xiaoman; it was because of her professional sensitivity that she uncovered their intentions, inadvertently taking the hit meant for someone else, most likely him.

Despite her injuries being healed by his miraculous techniques, Xu Xiaoman’s body was still weak from significant blood loss. Lin Feng couldn’t figure out how to use Niu Niu’s powers to restore her constitution, so after some conversation, feeling sympathetic, he urged her to rest. “Sis, rest assured, I will seek justice for you!”

Xu and Wang, unaware that the four black-clad men had turned into smoke and vanished upon death, believed the enemies were still lurking. Lin Feng, unsure how to explain this, put on a strong, fierce demeanor to reassure them. “I am a supernatural being! If those scoundrels dare to come again, I’ll catch a couple alive for you!”

Although Wang Xiaoyun hadn’t seen the attackers being killed, she had heard everything clearly. She thought Lin Feng was using some trick to hide the fact that the enemies were killed, knowing there was more to his words, so she also persuaded Xu Xiaoman to rest.

After settling Xu Xiaoman, they left the room and went to the front hall. “Fengzi, what’s really going on? Those four are dead!” Lin Feng’s tone was very unfriendly as he added, “The assassins were sent by the Lan family! That crazy old man has given me a huge headache; his son never believed I wasn’t interested in that billion-dollar estate, so he wants me dead!”

Wang Xiaoyun fell silent. She was already well aware of why Lin Feng was attacked and hospitalized. Thinking of him being dragged into such a powerful family’s internal strife left her at a loss. After pondering for a moment, Lin Feng suddenly looked up. “Where’s your computer?”
