After Shen Yixuan left, Luo Yaling collapsed on the floor. It was all her own stubbornness. She had used up all her energy and now felt completely limp, her whole body ached. Ah! Serves her right. But, she was so sleepy now! Really wanted to sleep, even if just for a moment. Slowly, she closed her eyes and fell asleep on the floor.
After a while, Shen Yixuan walked to the bathroom door. The bathroom was eerily quiet, making him uneasy.
“Luo Yaling, are you done washing?” he called out. He remembered her name from their last encounter, although he wasn’t sure why it stuck with him.
After waiting with no response, his nervousness grew. “Luo Yaling, I’m coming in.” Had she fainted? Could she have drowned? Anxiety surged in him as he pushed open the unlocked door.
Inside, he found Luo Yaling lying on the floor, her shoulder-length hair covering her face, making it hard to assess her condition.
Shen Yixuan’s face darkened. Was she really unconscious? Moments ago, she had been confronting him energetically. Gently, he embraced her as she lay on her side.
“Mmm…” Luo Yaling nestled into his embrace, seeking comfort, and buried her head in his chest.
“Huh?” Shen Yixuan was bewildered. She wasn’t fainted, but asleep? He couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the irony while feeling a wave of relief wash over him.
Looking at her dress covered in dirt, Shen Yixuan helped Luo Yaling take it off. He felt somewhat awkward while cleaning her. When he wiped her chin, she slapped his hand away and continued searching for a comfortable place to sleep. Feeling cold, she burrowed into his clothes, finding a cozy spot.
Amused, Shen Yixuan thought she had woken up while watching her nestle against him. However, when he looked at her chin, he froze. A deep scar cut across it, suggesting a violent past. His experience as a killer led him to wonder who could be so cruel. He realized he had misinterpreted her reactions; she wasn’t afraid of him but perhaps haunted by her trauma.
After tending to her, Shen Yixuan draped a bathrobe on Luo Yaling and settled her in his bed, covering her with a blanket. He then cleaned himself, having become dirty from helping her.
Later, he lay next to Luo Yaling, and they cuddled together.
The next noon, Luo Yaling slowly stirred in bed.
Habitually, she reached out to feel the bedside.
Huh? Where was it? She felt around, confused that it wasn’t there. Luo Yaling suddenly opened her eyes.
Looking at her surroundings, she was bewildered. This wasn’t her room. Whose room was this? It seemed very plain, likely belonging to a man. Could it be…?
She recalled fighting with a group of people yesterday. Shen Yixuan had brought her to his home after their argument. She had gone to the bathroom, intending to take a quick nap, and then lost consciousness. Now she was here.
“Ah!!! Could this be that guy’s room? Did he carry me here? Who changed my clothes?” Luo Yaling thought as she looked at her nightgown.
“Knock! Knock! Knock!”
A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts.
“Come in.”
A kind-looking middle-aged woman entered.
Huh? She hadn’t seen this woman in his home last night. Did he invite her for Luo Yaling? Questions swirled in her mind.
“Miss, you’re awake. Let’s go eat lunch! You haven’t had breakfast yet; if you don’t eat soon, your stomach will be in trouble…” Wu Ma spoke as she entered.
“May I ask who you are?” Luo Yaling asked, feeling dizzy from the woman’s rapid speech.
“Hehe! I forgot to introduce myself. I’m the young master’s housekeeper. The young master calls me Wu Ma. You can just call me Wu Ma.”
Miss, please get up quickly. These are the clothes the young master prepared for you. I’ll leave them here. I’ll go out now.” Wu Ma said and walked towards the door.
“Wu Ma, wait a moment.” She spoke so quickly. This Wu Ma was really energetic for her age. Luo Yaling couldn’t help but sigh.
“Miss, is something wrong? Did your wound open? Let me check…” Wu Ma hurriedly came to check for any open wounds.
“No…” She was fine, but now there might be a problem because of Wu Ma.
“No problem is good. What is it?” Wu Ma finally released her hands and asked Luo Yaling.
Luo Yaling looked at Wu Ma’s hands and breathed a sigh of relief. Shen Yixuan was so cold; how could his housekeeper be so passionate? She had thought Wu Ma would be cool too, but unexpectedly… Luo Yaling shook her head helplessly.
“Wu Ma, I just wanted to say, don’t call me ‘Miss’. Just call me Ling’er.” Being called ‘Miss’ made her feel uncomfortable.
“Ling’er? No good.”
“Not good? Wu Ma, you…” Please don’t let her say ‘Miss’ again! Luo Yaling looked at Wu Ma glumly, but before she could finish, Wu Ma interrupted her.
“I didn’t mean that. I just wanted to call you Xiao Ya. Is that okay?” They seemed to have a connection with the word ‘ling’. This girl was quite likable.
The madam had guessed right; the girl looked quite similar to Miss Jing. She had been there early to report to the young master, who didn’t seem to mind her presence. When leaving, he instructed her to take good care of this girl. Wu Ma didn’t expect the young master would arrange her in his room, which had never housed a woman before. Yet this girl seemed special, so she needed to report to the madam quickly.
“Whatever, Wu Ma. Just don’t call me ‘Miss’,” Luo Yaling said, slightly startled by Wu Ma’s behavior.
“I’ll go prepare lunch for you right away. Xiao Ya, come down quickly!” Wu Ma called out.
“Okay! Wu Ma, thank you for the trouble,” Luo Yaling replied, changing into the clothes Wu Ma had brought.
“I didn’t expect that guy to be good at picking clothes! They really suit my taste,” she muttered.
Meanwhile, in Korea, on private land spanning several thousand square meters, several luxurious mansions were scattered about amidst rockeries and flower gardens. A group rushed towards a residence.
“Old man, what did you call me for?” Shen Tian Yajun asked, facing away from his father, undoubtedly expecting that it was about Lingling.
“Hmph! Look at this!” Shen Tian Hong angrily turned around, throwing a magazine.
“When did the girl go to China? If I hadn’t accidentally seen this magazine, I wouldn’t have known!” Hmph! He knew this boy was intentionally helping the girl, which made it difficult for him to find her. He missed her terribly. How could she be so heartless, leaving him alone for so long?
Shen Tian Yajun looked at the magazine on the ground, feeling his heart sink. He knew his sister had gone to China through Xuan, his buddy. Otherwise, Lingling would have thought she could escape detection with her mediocre hiding skills. Given her carelessness and tendency to meddle, she would have been exposed long ago.
But this magazine… Wasn’t it supposed to be sealed and destroyed? How did it still get published? It seems the old man deliberately wanted to see it and was going a bit crazy missing his daughter.
“This… I’m not sure. Maybe the cover looks like Lingling. Old man, you might have mistaken,” Shen Tian Yajun said, playing dumb.
“Hmph! Do you think I’m so old that I can’t recognize my own daughter?” Shen Tian Hong roared at Yajun.
“Hehe! I’m just saying maybe.”
I’m not saying it’s definitely not Lingling,” Yajun said, rubbing his sore ear. Every time Lingling was involved, his father couldn’t calm down.
“I won’t be polite when there’s food. Wu Ma has worked hard and should eat more. She’s thin but has a standard figure.”
“By the way, Young Master wants to tell you…”
“You mean when I’m leaving, right?” Luo Yaling interrupted. Just mentioning that guy made her angry. He’s made her so unlucky multiple times. She knew he wasn’t that kind-hearted and questions her past interest in him—just curiosity, she thought. Besides, he’s not interested in her, so why treat her like this?
