Bin Zhengheng walked aimlessly, bumping into things without caring. Some attempted to approach him, but he ignored them, as if he were alone in the world. The women who tried to engage with him wisely walked away.
Suddenly, a shadow rushed toward Bin Zhengheng and quickly made him disappear.
Another beggar, observing the scene, rubbed his eyes at the now-empty spot. Did he see a ghost in broad daylight? The beggar ran away in panic.
Luo Yaling ran downstairs, searching the area but unable to find the person she was looking for. Where did he run off to? Would he do something stupid? She worried.
“Excuse me, have you seen a very handsome boy pass by? About this tall?” Luo Yaling asked a man nearby.
The man was stunned upon seeing her face.
“Excuse me…” she muttered, puzzled by his reaction. Did she have something on her face? She touched her cheeks subconsciously.
“Ah! Excuse me, beautiful lady, how can I serve you?” the man finally recovered and asked.
Embarrassed, Luo Yaling quickly pulled her hand away. “No, sorry for disturbing you,” she replied and walked away.
Wang Nie watched her retreating figure and smiled evilly. He had been waiting for this moment, and she had unwittingly delivered herself to him.
He wouldn’t let this fat piece of meat escape.
Luo Yaling searched aimlessly. When she was almost exhausted, she decided to return home, thinking he might come back later.
A plane passed overhead, drawing a beautiful trajectory. Luo Yaling looked at the sky, sighed, and walked home, unaware of a figure following her.
Once home, she lay down on her bed. “Ah! My own nest is so comfortable. Heng’s matter, I’ll deal with it tomorrow,” she muttered, quickly falling asleep.
Chapter Forty-Five: The Arrival of the Brother
At the airport: “Jun, do you think Ling will be surprised to see us?” Liu Yuhui asked, eager to see Ling’s reaction. They hadn’t contacted each other since the last phone call, leaving her frustrated. Thanks to her good fortune, she had Jun’s intimacy. She giggled at Ya Jun beside her.
“Hehe! Fool. What do you think?” Ya Jun teased, tapping Yuhui’s head.
“Ouch!” Yuhui pouted, looking at Ya Jun.
“I’m not hurt,” Ya Jun laughed.
“Okay, okay. I won’t tease you anymore,” Ya Jun said, hugging Yuhui and handing the items to the man in black behind them.
“Annoying,” Yuhui said as she lay in Ya Jun’s arms, her face flushed.
“You like it,” Ya Jun teased, tweaking her nose and laughing, which made her face even redder.
“Let’s find a place to stay. We’ll visit Ling tomorrow,” he suggested as they walked out.
“Okay. I wonder how Ling is doing. Has she lost weight? It’s been so long since we last saw each other,” Yuhui replied.
Did Ling stay in China the whole time? She came without telling her—how petty. The last time they talked, she even asked if Yuhui wanted to come to China, but Yuhui had refused. Ling hadn’t communicated at all, which felt disloyal to Yuhui. While she mentally criticized Luo Yaling, she unknowingly voiced her thoughts aloud.
“That’s because I was afraid you’d let something slip,” Ya Jun remarked, amused by her muttering. Ling had kept Yuhui in the dark fearing she would accidentally reveal something, but Ya Jun was already aware of everything. He found Yuhui cute and continued to stroke her head.
“Ah!!! Jun heard everything?”
Did I slip up? What does he mean?” Yu Hui looked at Yajun, confusion evident in her expression.
“No need to cover up. I heard everything,” Yajun said, gently pulling her hand away from her mouth.
“Oh!” Yu Hui looked at Yajun with a hint of sadness.
“Alright, stop worrying. Hui Hui wanted to see how Ling is doing, right? Rest today, we’ll go find Ling tomorrow,” he said, feeling eager to check on Ling but choosing to wait until morning.
“Okay. Can Jun carry me?” Yu Hui, exhausted, asked.
“Sure,” Yajun replied, lifting Yu Hui into his arms.
Yajun glanced down at her, sighing softly.
“I waited outside your door all night, remembering you leaning on my chest…”
“Mmm… hey!” Luo Yaling reached for the alarm clock without opening her eyes.
“I waited outside your door…” The ringtone chimed again.
“Not right.” Luo Yaling tossed aside the alarm clock and searched again, leaving it on the floor.
“There you are. Hello…” she said lazily.
“Ling Ling!” A familiar male voice came through the phone.
“Ah!!!” Luo Yaling’s eyes snapped open, and she sat up, realizing it was her brother.
Luo Yaling picked up the phone again, uncertainty gnawing at her.
“Hello… is it you, brother?” she asked cautiously.
“Still sleeping? The sun’s high up. Come open the door,” a teasing voice came from the other end.
This voice was unmistakably her brother. Confused but eager, she got up to open the door.
“You…” Luo Yaling was too excited to speak, trembling as she pointed at them.
“What? Shocked? Won’t you invite your brother inside?” Yajun said, amused. He noticed that she had lost weight.
“Yes, yes, yes. Please come in,” she said, stepping aside.
Yajun affectionately patted her head.
“Ling Ling, your place is quite clean. Cleaner than I imagined, just a bit simple,” Yu Hui remarked.
Luo Yaling laughed, feeling embarrassed. If not for the little guy, her place wouldn’t be this tidy.
Bin Zheng Heng had vanished, just as she suspected.
“Brother! How did you find me? Are you here to take me back?” she asked, a mix of hope and reluctance flooding her thoughts. She wasn’t ready to leave; she hadn’t had enough fun!
She felt like she had only been here for a month, with everything else seeming blurry. Luo Yaling tilted her head, confused.
“How I found you is not your concern. As for taking you back… it’s not about immediately sending you back, but…” Yajun spoke mysteriously to Luo Yaling.
Yu Hui giggled on the side, finding it all very secretive.
“What?” Why did her brother stop mid-sentence? What does ‘not immediately taking her back’ mean? Something must be up. Her brother was being mysterious, making her nervous.
Chapter 46: Finding a Husband???
“The old man wants you to find a husband and go back,” Yajun said directly.
“Huh?” Did the old man take the wrong medicine? Find a husband? The way he said it… could it be…
“So… you mean…” Luo Yaling looked at Yajun expectantly.
That means if you find a husband and go back, I won’t hold your running away from home against you. Your husband can take over the task. He also wanted to quickly resolve this tricky matter, hoping Ling would be found soon, as those people were already starting to stir.
If not quick enough, the old man wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer. Even though he hadn’t revealed the full situation, he understood clearly.
“Really? So I can just find someone to replace me, right?” Luo Yaling asked, excitedly holding Yajun’s hands.
“No. You’d better find someone worthy of the Dragon Ring. Whoever wears it is your husband,” Yajun replied seriously, startling Luo Yaling.
“Ah??? What?” The ring? She had lost it in another country long ago. What should she do now? It’s all her carelessness! Where could she possibly find it after so long? Seeing her brother’s serious expression, this seemed like a significant issue. Oh! What if they found out? Would they kill her? No, no, no. She must keep it hidden. Perhaps it would suddenly reappear someday.
As for finding a husband? That would take time! It’s not her fault! After all, she’s finding a husband and will heed his advice to be cautious.
“Any problems?” Yajun narrowed his eyes, looking at Luo Yaling with a terrifying gaze.
“No, no, no. Hehe!”
Luo Yaling waved her hands, laughing foolishly.
How scary! If he had problems, he would ‘personally’ choose; that would be terrible, forcing her into unwanted situations. However, it was better than him choosing for her.
