Crazy Smartphone – Part One

“Who are you, barging into the police station?” A stranger girl suddenly appeared, and these men, already embarrassed by Cao Lei’s incident, felt their dignity further compromised. Seeing she knew Lin Feng, someone rudely questioned Wang Xiaoyun. Wang Xiaoyun didn’t see Lin Feng’s antics with Cao Lei; she only saw Lin Feng’s swollen cheek and black eye. Knowing he had been beaten, she was furious: “So what if it’s a police station? Is it your family’s property? Be careful, I’ll sue you for illegal interrogation!”

Her tone was truly fierce, offending everyone with a single sentence!

“Oh, quite the big talk! Which eye saw us interrogating anyone? If you don’t explain clearly, you won’t be leaving this door today!”

“Hmph! If you dare, arrest me now!” Wang Xiaoyun struggled to help Lin Feng up, glaring contemptuously at them.

“Hey…” The man reached for his waist, ready to handcuff Wang Xiaoyun.

“Oh, oh… misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding!” Officer Zhang, who was attending to his superior Cao Lei, heard the commotion and hurried over to dissuade the man pretending to be tough and about to arrest someone. Seeing someone intervene, the man got even more excited, pushing Officer Zhang aside to confront Wang Xiaoyun. Officer Zhang, left with no choice, whispered something in his ear, leaving the man stunned, repeatedly asking, “Really?” Upon confirmation, his face turned ashen, like he had lost his father, and he could no longer muster any bravado.

“Sister, I…” The man tried to apologize to Wang Xiaoyun, but she dodged him in disgust. Frustrated, he retreated, squatting aside, pounding his chest in regret.

Wang Xiaoyun helped Lin Feng downstairs, with no one stopping them, and they got into a taxi, returning to Mr. Wang’s clinic, Jishi Hall, shortly after. Lin Feng’s face was swollen like a big pig’s head. Strangely enough, by all logic, Cao Lei’s slap shouldn’t have caused such swelling, and it had been some time since the slap, so the swelling should have subsided by now. Lin Feng’s face was extremely peculiar, showing no signs of the swelling subsiding; instead, it had worsened. Even the right side of his cheek was now slowly swelling up. “Grandpa, what’s actually wrong with his face?” “Alas!” Old Man Wang shook his head without answering, sighed deeply, rummaged through his cabinets for various herbs, and sent Wang Xiaoyun to the backyard to fetch hot water. “Lin Lin, does your face hurt or itch?” “Grandpa, what’s wrong with my face? It doesn’t hurt or itch, just feels really swollen, like there’s a rush of air in my head trying to burst out of my face.” “Oh… not hurting or itching? That’s odd!” The old man pondered deeply, his brows furrowed as if he couldn’t figure out what ailment Lin Feng had. “Grandpa, my head isn’t going to explode, is it?” “…Uh, Lin Lin, tell grandpa in detail what happened back then. Did someone inject something into your face? Grandpa needs to understand how those people tampered with you!” “How else could it be!” Wang Xiaoyun interjected with a complaint, “It’s all because of those stinking cops beating him up! They were so ruthless! Hey, Lin Feng, with your kung fu skills, why did you let them beat you up like a pig’s head?”

Wang Xiaoyun, worried about Lin Feng, soon returned to the living room with hot water. Lin Feng was speechless, thinking to himself, “Do you think I wanted to be beaten into a pig’s head? Who knew those cops would be so despicable, tricking me into going to the police station and then launching a sneak attack. The Swift Wind Boots only boost agility and speed, they don’t offer protection. That damn Cao Lei is truly insidious. Thankfully, I was smart enough to provoke Cao Lei into opening the handcuffs; otherwise, if he had cuffed me to the radiator and attacked me, I might have ended up as a roast pig by now. Looks like I need to think of ways to enhance my defensive capabilities. Back then, I crafted a bunch of miscellaneous cards with that beauty, I wonder if any of them could enhance protection! But my mental strength is so weak now, even the Swift Wind Boots often leave me half-dead, so those cards with unknown attributes, let’s not use them as guinea pigs for now.”

Feeling frustrated, Lin Feng thought if only he could figure out how to extract those cards, he could find someone on the street to freely enhance their physique, equipping them with gear as powerful as the Swift Wind Boots, creating a batch of customized superhumans. He wouldn’t charge much, maybe a thousand dollars per card. He wondered if this business would work out. If no one believed him, he could just show off a bit to prove it…

Lin Feng was lost in his whimsical thoughts when suddenly the light dimmed, and a pair of big eyes were right in front of him. “Hey, don’t fall asleep!” Wang Xiaoyun’s shout pulled Lin Feng back to reality. He quickly tried to open his eyes wide and hurriedly wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth. Wang Xiaoyun was carefully cleaning his pig-like face, which made Lin Feng feel a mix of emotions, and his nose suddenly felt sour, tears almost welling up. Wuwuwu… Here I am, Lin Feng, known to everyone as a carefree guy, what virtue or ability do I have to earn such high regard from both young and old? Xiaoyun used to be known as the icy beauty, always harsh with words, but her kindness towards me, how can it be expressed in mere words? And Old Man Wang Dereng, mistakenly thinking I’m a descendant of his martial brother, has treated me like his own grandson. He’s a famous doctor in the city!

“Hey, is there something wrong with your eyes? Why are you crying so much?” “No… no, I’m not crying, it’s just the water from the towel…” Lin Feng suppressed the excitement in his heart, almost revealing his sensitive side to this wild girl, and immediately denied it…

This trip to the police station was indeed easier to get into than to get out. However, Wang Xiaoyun’s sudden appearance at the police station, moving in and out as if it was her own backyard, could it be that she had connections with that Chief Tian? If not for Chief Tian showing up unexpectedly, this trip to the station would have been much worse. That bastard Cao Lei, having lost his gun, wouldn’t have let it go easily.

“Xiaoyun, did you contact Chief Tian?” “Ah… you knew about that? You sly… guy, quite well-informed, aren’t you!” Wang Xiaoyun made a face behind her grandfather’s back, sticking out her tongue to signal Lin Feng not to bring up the topic again. Old Man Wang coughed lightly, saying, “Xiaoyun, don’t always bother Chief Tian!” He approached, signaling Lin Feng to lie down, then carefully applied the prepared ointment from the medicine jar onto Lin Feng’s face.

“Grandpa, you don’t know how hateful those cops were! I had no choice but to call Uncle Tian…” “That’s not right, always calling them ‘stinking cops,’ does that mean Uncle Tian is a stinking cop too?” “I didn’t say Uncle Tian, oh, grandpa, you don’t know how hateful those two cops were today!” Wang Xiaoyun cleverly removed the offensive word but remained indignant, continuing, “Grandpa, if you were there, you would have been furious. Those two cops were clearly out to humiliate him, parading him in front of his classmates like a criminal, and even made the siren blare loudly, as if they wanted everyone to know Lin Feng was arrested. Those bastards, why do they think Lin Feng is some… what, a pervert stealing women’s underwear? Just because of some rumors spread by certain people, can they falsely accuse Lin Feng?” Wang Xiaoyun seemed to have found a release for her grievances and began her lengthy rant.
