Crazy Smartphone – Part One

Lin Feng was speechless; this man seemed to be a professional scammer, ready to exploit any situation. He dodged the drunk’s attempts to grab his ankle, cursed him silently for being shameless, and tried to leave. The drunk, failing to catch him, started shouting even more dramatically. His companions, momentarily distracted from the woman, now turned their aggression towards Lin Feng.

Though these drunkards posed no real threat to Lin Feng, being entangled in such a pointless conflict was irritating. He had to subdue them, and as he passed the woman still crying on the ground, he kindly advised, “Sister, go home quickly!”

Hearing Lin Feng’s voice, the woman trembled, instinctively looking up at him, then shrieked and quickly lowered her head, her hair covering her face as she scrambled towards a nearby barber shop in panic.

Lin Feng felt something was off; this woman seemed familiar. After a moment of thought, it dawned on him, and he called out to her retreating figure, “Zhu Tingting?”

The woman froze for a moment before dashing into the barber shop at an even faster pace. Lin Feng’s suspicion was confirmed; she was indeed his classmate, Zhu Tingting. But why was she here? Confused, he considered knocking on the door to check but hesitated, fearing she might have her reasons or troubles, and seeing her might only lead to awkwardness. Considering the delicate situation, he shook his head and left without further thought, though Zhu Tingting’s appearance weighed on his mind like a heavy stone. A good girl, why would she be in such a place? Lin Feng resolved to tell Wang Xiaoyun about this when he saw her tomorrow. Zhu Tingting came from a poor family in a remote rural area; she had struggled to get into this high school. Could it be she was here because she needed money… Sigh!

P.S. The update is a bit late, and the word count isn’t much, but as always, I shamelessly ask for your support and votes.

Taoist Insight

Fearing being spotted again by the mysterious observer, Lin Feng took numerous detours and employed various counter-surveillance techniques to detect the location of his potential stalker. Regrettably, whether it was due to the high alertness of the other party or Lin Feng’s overly complicated detours, that heart-pounding sensation never reappeared. This outcome left Lin Feng quite troubled, but during this period of caution, he had taken many precautions. After all, his identity was no longer that of a simple high school student; with a beautiful girl inside him, even though he kept his mouth shut, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t slip up in other unnoticed details, attracting unwanted attention. Thus, Lin Feng patiently took many unnecessary detours, ensuring no suspicious individuals were following him, before he finally dashed home.

By the time he got back, it was already midnight. Fortunately, his mother’s habits were set in stone; the key to the security door was still under the safety mat. He quietly opened the door to find his mother already asleep. Lin Feng silently sat by his mother’s bedside, watching her prematurely graying hair. Over the years, his father had been working away from home to support the family, only able to stay home for a few days each year. His mother, due to poor health, had been laid off early. They worked so hard, all for the sake of their unfilial son to study well and have a good future. But what about him? He spent his days in a daze. Sigh… His mother slept peacefully, evidently content. All of this was due to a single phone call from Grandpa Wang Xiaoyun. The old man on the phone only mentioned Lin Feng’s name and said he would stay with him for a few days, and his mother readily agreed. In the past, Lin Feng would have seen this as his mother being fed up with him, hoping he would find something to keep him away. But now, he thought differently. The name Wang Deren was just an ordinary name, but in Yushan City, it had become a magical golden sign, a symbol of status! Who in Yushan City wouldn’t feel honored to have a connection with Grandpa Wang?

Lin Feng had long admired the fame of the divine physician Wang Deren. He thought that not only would someone like him, who was always full of wild ideas, be moved by the mention, but even someone like his mother, who usually watched over him like a hawk, would let go of her precious son without a second thought when Wang Deren spoke. What kind of realm was this? If one could live to such a state, wouldn’t life be fulfilled? The old man’s moral standing must be incredibly high; if he had something like the game equipment inside Lin Feng, he would surely handle it with ease, like adding wings to a tiger, achieving whatever he set his mind to… Lin Feng dozed off by the bedside, and suddenly, a stack of hundred-yuan bills fell from his left hand. Instinctively, Lin Feng clenched his hand, and a flash of white light passed, the stack of money vanished, replaced by a cold, gleaming police pistol. He clenched his hand again, and the pistol disappeared.

“Grandpa, Grandpa, why are you so reckless? You’re already so old, why do you still act so impulsively?” Wang Xiaoyun kept berating her grandfather’s recklessness, her face filled with anxiety. Grandpa Wang sat cross-legged with his eyes closed, having maintained this pose for a long time. The events of that day were too numerous, all stirred up by Lin Feng, that damned troublemaker. She regretted bringing him to meet her grandfather; since he visited, look at what happened — Grandpa was risking his life. When she came home from school in the afternoon, she found her grandfather practicing the ‘Tongxin Jue’, forcibly expanding Lin Feng’s heart meridians. At his age, how could he dare to take such a risk? ‘Tongxin Jue’ originates from the ‘Tao Te Ching’ and is a domineering technique for forcibly laying the foundation for others, somewhat akin to the legendary ‘Northern Darkness Divine Skill’, but instead of absorbing others’ energy, the practitioner actively drains their own spiritual essence to ferry it to the recipient, helping them to cleanse their marrow and establish a cultivation base. Grandpa must have been worried that Lin Feng’s mental cultivation was too weak, fearing he would eventually be controlled by his inner demons, thus using this method to enhance his mental strength. Humph! I, Wang Xiaoyun, must have been blind…

“Grandpa, he… he actually just left like that? There’s no sign of him anywhere! …Here’s a note.” Wang Xiaoyun picked up the note left by Lin Feng and read it. After hearing it, Wang Deren pondered, stroking his beard, then suddenly focused, entering a state of meditation. After a moment, he opened his eyes wide and slapped his thigh: “A genius! Truly a rare genius! Hohohoho…”

“What genius? This stinky guy is so ungrateful! The saying goes, repay kindness with a spring of water, we didn’t expect much from him, but Grandpa, you took such a risk to help him, and he just left without a word, humph, I’ll call him!” Wang Xiaoyun reached for the phone but was stopped by her grandfather: “Hohohoho, no need to call, my good granddaughter, I just received a harassing text from your cousin, hey!” The old man excitedly clapped his hands together, bouncing like a child.

“A harassing text? Grandpa, you mean… but you never use a mobile phone!”

“Hohohoho, rest assured, go to school, your cousin just finished breakfast, said goodbye to his mother, and is now on his way to school with his backpack!”

Wang Xiaoyun circled her grandfather, looking at him from all angles for a long time before asking, “Grandpa, are you saying that Lin Feng’s harassing text… went straight into your heart?”

“Hohohoho…”
